Drunken Relief

water and water again, save me from deserts within
brushing my teeth and removing my clothes are out of the question

rolling the seas of my bed, floating with limbs all outspread
mashed in my face, the pillow it moans
I’m drooling in cotton, home sweet home

sleep dives through the mattress, toying with me
face down and drunk as can be
the whirling of the bedroom cranks up its speed
a black hole is all I can see

I swear I won’t do this again, let a priest come and I’ll surely repent
the nerve that holds on to things I’ve consumed is trembling and twitching inside

sleep dives through the mattress, toying with me
face down and drunk as can be
the whirling of the bedroom cranks up its speed
a black hole is all I can see

there were some good jokes I made, while I can I should write them down
when the conversation lulled, I had thoughts that were oh so deep

a dream kicks me out, it’s 3:23
one hand finds the glass, two dribbles for me
it’s wrong sitting up with this head full of sand
just succumb to the bed like an invalid
now the streetlights look in with purpose unknown
those alien eyes have been searching through my home

I piss right through the mattress onto the floor
the bright sun is lining the shore
the pattern in the carpet blossoms indeed
the sweet smell of drunken relief
